Fictional releases, real output: every finding below is what the live checker returns for these rows today.
Examples The artists and codes are invented. Real client stories are coming once clients agree to be named.
Indie single with a featured artist
A two-track single: the original with a guest, and an acoustic version.
artist,featured_artists,track_title,version,isrc,upc Mara Vale & Theo Kim,,Lanterns ft. Theo Kim,,GBXYZ2600101,5054526000012 Mara Vale,Theo Kim,Lanterns - Acoustic,,GB-XYZ-26-00102,5054526000012
Row 1, artist: Multiple/featured artists joined in primary artist field
Mara Vale & Theo Kim
Fix: Split into separate artist entries with correct roles
Row 1, track_title: Non-standard featuring format
Lanterns ft. Theo Kim
Fix: Lanterns (feat. Theo Kim)
Row 1, track_title: Featuring text in title; deliver as FeaturedArtist role (DSPs append it)
Lanterns ft. Theo Kim
Fix: Lanterns
Row 1, featured_artists: Title credits 'Theo Kim' but featured_artists is empty
(empty)
Fix: Theo Kim
Row 2, track_title: Version descriptor after dash
Lanterns - Acoustic
Fix: Lanterns (Acoustic)
Row 2, isrc: Deliver without hyphens/spaces/lowercase
GB-XYZ-26-00102
Fix: GBXYZ2600102
Row 1, upc: Invalid UPC/EAN (length or check digit)
5054526000012
What to change. One guest credit produces four findings on row 1. The clean delivery is artist Mara Vale, featured artist Theo Kim, title Lanterns; Spotify and Apple add the (feat.) themselves.
AI-disclosure gap
An electronic release where one row leaves ai_use blank and a remix names an AI tool but declares none.
artist,track_title,ai_use,duration North Atlas,Glass Orbit,,2:58 North Atlas,Glass Orbit (Suno Remix),none,0:33
Row 1, ai_use: AI use not declared (expected None/Partly/All per DDEX ContainsAI)
(empty)
Row 2, ai_use: AI-tool keyword present but no AI disclosure
none
Fix: Partly or All, with AI contributor credits by role
Row 2, duration: 33s < 61s
0:33
What to change. Blank is not the same as None. DDEX ERN 4.3.2 gives you the field; declare it on every track, and credit AI contributions by role when the answer is Partly or All.
Classical compilation
A classical compilation with a duplicated movement row and a mood-titled filler track.
artist,track_title,explicit,isrc,language Ensemble Lumen,Symphony No. 5 in C Minor Op. 67: I. Allegro con brio,false,DEA112600301,zxx Ensemble Lumen,Symphony No. 5 in C Minor Op. 67: I. Allegro con brio,false,DEA112600301,zxx Various Artists,RELAXING PIANO FOR SLEEP,,DEA112600303,
Row 2, track_title: Duplicate title in batch (rows 1, 2)
Symphony No. 5 … I. Allegro con brio
Fix: Differentiate with version tag or remove duplicate
Row 3, artist: Generic/SEO-term artist name
Various Artists
Row 3, track_title: 3 search terms: relaxing, sleep, piano
RELAXING PIANO FOR SLEEP
Fix: Use the actual song title; put mood/genre in genre field
Row 3, track_title: All caps
RELAXING PIANO FOR SLEEP
Fix: Relaxing Piano For Sleep
Row 3, explicit: Explicit flag missing/unrecognised
(empty)
Row 3, language: Missing or non-ISO language code
(empty)
What to change. Various Artists belongs at album level only; each track needs its real performer. Instrumentals still need a language value (zxx). The duplicate row shares an ISRC with row 1, so it's the same recording delivered twice: remove it rather than retitle it.
