Version history

The site was rebuilt from a Base44 prototype onto Astro, deployed on Cloudflare Pages with Pages Functions and a D1 database. The rebuild and everything listed here landed in October 2026.

1. Rules engine and checker

   The 21-rule engine (featuring format, version tags, ISRC/UPC validation, AI disclosure and more) was ported from the Python reference checker to JavaScript with parity tests, and the free checker went live as a Cloudflare Pages Function.

2. Catalog Health Audit and AI Disclosure Kit

   Productised audit tiers (Starter, Pro, Enterprise, Recovery, Monitoring) and the AI Disclosure Kit, priced in USD.

3. Email-gated full reports

   Full checker reports behind an email gate with explicit CASL consent, one-click unsubscribe (RFC 8058) and a four-message follow-up sequence (day 0, 2, 5, 10).

4. Guides

   13 sourced platform and topic guides, then 25 more: 38 guides, each citing the style guide or help page it is based on.

5. Distributor API v1

   POST /api/v1/check and GET /api/v1/usage, with API keys stored only as SHA-256 hashes, per-key rate limits and monthly quotas.

6. Checkout

   Stripe Payment Links for the audit tiers and the kit, with a /thanks confirmation page.

7. Domain and email

   www.metadatastyleguidelines.com became the canonical host; transactional email moved to Resend with branded templates and a postal address in every footer.

8. Brand and design system

   New slash-dot mark, Inter Tight / Inter / JetBrains Mono type, a single cyan accent and a shared component set. Accessibility pass to zero axe violations on the audited pages.

9. Honest long-tail pages

   Pages that described features, clients or numbers we don't have were rewritten to describe only what exists.

The rules engine isn't versioned publicly yet. When a rule changes we'll note it here with the source that prompted it. Upcoming work is on the roadmap.
