TikTok and SoundOn Metadata Guide: Audio, Artwork and Title Requirements

Updated 2026-10-21 · 2 sources

Short answer

SoundOn distributes to TikTok and other ByteDance services. It wants full songs (WAV, at least 44.1 kHz/16-bit, under 200 MB, at least 60 seconds, no more than 5 seconds of silence at either end), square artwork (at least 1400×1400, 3000×3000 recommended) whose text matches the metadata exactly, and no karaoke, snippets, or unlicensed covers, remixes or samples. If another distributor handles your other stores, your ISRCs, UPC, artist name and titles must match.

Audio and content

  • WAV at 44.1 kHz or higher and 16-bit or higher, under 200 MB [1].
  • Not accepted: karaoke, dialogue-only tracks, ringtones, ads, tracks under 60 seconds or with more than 5 seconds of silence at either end, snippets, defective audio, and covers, remixes or samples without the correct licence [1].

Artwork and titles

  • Square JPG or PNG, 1400×1400 to 6000×6000 px, 3000×3000 recommended; artist and title on the art match the metadata, including version titles [1].
  • No URLs, logos, social handles, cut-off text, generic templates or references to physical packaging or retailers [1].
  • On one-track singles the album and track titles must match; only use a version title to tell versions apart [1].

Using SoundOn alongside another distributor

You can use SoundOn for TikTok and another distributor elsewhere. Tell the other distributor not to deliver to TikTok, and make UPC, ISRCs, artist name and titles match exactly [2]. The ISRC stays with the recording across distributors [1].
