Amazon Music Metadata Guide: Delivery, Artist Profiles and Fixes

Updated 2026-10-21 · 4 sources

Short answer

Amazon Music receives releases from distributors via a DDEX ERN feed, so your distributor's metadata is what Amazon displays. Artist-profile problems (someone else's music on your page, your music elsewhere) are fixed self-service in Amazon Music for Artists with Report Issue, even without claiming the profile. Artist name changes and takedowns go through your label or distributor.

How delivery works

Amazon says content arrives through aggregators (distributors) using a DDEX ERN delivery feed, and that when profile signals in that feed don't communicate properly, profiles can show other artists' music, miss music or show incorrect names [1].

Fixing problems

  • Wrong content on your profile, or your content on someone else's: use Report Issue in Amazon Music for Artists, selecting up to 50 albums or songs; you don't need to have claimed the profile [2].
  • Incorrect artist name with otherwise correct music: your label or distributor must fix and redeliver [1].
  • Music on Amazon that you didn't approve: ask your label or distributor for a takedown [1].

Preventing it

Keep artist names identical across releases and stores, the same rule Spotify and Apple publish [3] [4]. See wrong artist profile.

You can report profile mapping problems there. Metadata such as the artist name has to be corrected and redelivered by your distributor.

Does Amazon publish a public style guide?

We haven't found a public Amazon Music style guide comparable to Apple's or Spotify's. Following those, plus your distributor's rules, covers the common requirements.
