Music on the Wrong Artist Profile? Fixing Mismatched and Merged Artist Pages
Updated 2026-10-21 · 9 sources
Short answer
Releases usually land on the wrong profile because the artist name matches or nearly matches another artist, or because spelling, casing or accents differ between releases. Each store has its own fix: Spotify's content mismatch form, Amazon Music for Artists' Report Issue tool, Deezer for Creators' discography issue report, and on YouTube a change request from your distributor. To prevent it, keep the name identical on every release and ask your distributor to deliver with your existing artist ID where it can.
Why it happens
Spotify asks for consistent spelling, punctuation and abbreviations across releases [1], and its style guide warns that inaccurate accents or casing can put a release on the wrong artist page [2]. Amazon explains that artist profile signals travel in the DDEX delivery feed and sometimes don't communicate properly, which can put other artists' music on a profile or leave music missing [3]. Deezer names shared artist names as a common cause [4].
Fixes by store
- Spotify: use the content mismatch form in Spotify for Artists, or contact your distributor. Spotify says it usually fixes issues within a few days, and some distributors can deliver with a specified artist ID to prevent repeats [5]. Some artists can also use Artist Profile Protection to review releases delivered under their name [6].
- Amazon Music: use Report Issue in Amazon Music for Artists ("my artist profile has incorrect content" or "my content is on a different artist's profile"), selecting up to 50 albums or songs; you don't need to have claimed the profile [7].
- Deezer: report a Discography issue in Deezer for Creators with the wrong page URL, correct artist name and album URLs. Deezer can only change capitalization or accents of a name itself; other name changes go through your distributor [4].
- YouTube Music: the delivering label or distributor can request a change in Studio Content Manager, including "Art track is not associated with the desired artist channel" [8].
- Apple Music: Apple requires full, consistent name spellings across all content [9]; ask your distributor to request a correction.
Examples
| Instead of | Use | Why |
|---|---|---|
| "Beyonce" on one single, "Beyoncé" on the next | "Beyoncé" on every release | Accents must match (Spotify example). |
| "DJ Mellow", then "D.J. Mellow" | "DJ Mellow" everywhere | Punctuation differences split profiles. |

FAQ
My new release created a second profile for me. What now?
On Spotify use the content mismatch form; on Amazon use Report Issue; on Deezer ask for the pages to be merged. Then make sure your distributor uses your existing artist IDs for future releases.
How long does it take?
Spotify says usually a few days. Amazon asks you to allow up to 4 weeks.
